The Company has been recognized by CDP, a leading international environmental rating organization, for its efforts and disclosures related to climate change and water management. The Company has been selected for the "A List" in both the Climate Change and Water Security categories for the seventh consecutive year, the highest rating awarded by CDP. Going forward, The Company will continue to contribute to solving environmental issues—such as climate change, water security, and natural capital—by leveraging the power of ICT.

The Company has been ranked 7th in the World's Most SustainableCompanies of 2026, a ranking jointly conducted by U.S. magazineTIME and Statista. With this recognition, The Company has been namedamong the top 10 companies for the third consecutive year sincethe ranking was first launched.
Targets and Achievement
The Company has strengthened its climate change initiatives since announcing its climate change policy guidelines in 2017, including through its commitment to Business Ambition for 1.5°C and its signing of The Climate Pledge. As part of these efforts, the Company has declared its commitment to achieving net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050.Under its SBTi Net-Zero target, the Company aims to achieve carbon neutrality by fiscal 2040 by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 90% and neutralizing only residual emissions. To achieve this goal, the Company has established targets for fiscal 2034 and fiscal 2040 and is advancing initiatives accordingly.In addition, the Company is transitioning the electricity used at its head office buildings and data centers to 100% renewable energy and has brought forward its target year for achieving RE100 from fiscal 2050 to fiscal 2040.
Environmental Policy and Management
As part of its corporate social responsibility activities, The Company seeks to reduce environmental impacts in its own business activities. At the same time, it is carrying out "environmental business management" that contributes to reducing the environmental impacts of society as a whole through its products and services.
Also, to promote environmental management throughout the entire Group, it has established the "Environmental Policy" to express its environmental philosophy and action guidelines. Conduct that complies with the charter is expected of all NEC employees including executive officers
Environmentally Friendly Products and Green procurement
The Company focuses on activities to reduce the environmental impact of products over their entire lifecycle. In these activities, we have added the perspectives of "Ecology" (including resource recycling, global warming prevention, and environmental consciousness) and "Compliance" to the conventional perspectives of "Quality," "Cost," and "Delivery."
We are working in close collaboration with our suppliers to promote green procurement.
Climate Change
The Company has identified the visualization and reduction of environmental impacts across the entire value chain as a materiality and is promoting efforts to reduce environmental impacts from its own operations and suppliers, while supporting society's transition to decarbonization through ICT.The Company has set a target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2040 and has renewed its SBTi Net-Zero certification. In addition, the NEC Group is advancing initiatives across the Group, including improving the energy efficiency of ICT infrastructure, visualizing CO2 emissions, developing energy-related businesses, and providing environmental consulting services.
Natural Capital (TNFD)
Much of the global economy depends on natural capital, and the collapse of ecosystem services could lead to significant economic losses. The Company has been advancing its response to the TNFD framework from an early stage. In the third edition issued in 2025, the Company combined generative AI and Agentic AI with on-site surveys to make the analysis of nature-related risks and opportunities more efficient and sophisticated, while organizing the information needed to support management decision-making.
Water
Based on our Environmental Policy, The Company complies, with environmental laws and regulations and promotes reducing our water usage and environmental impact. We are also employing water risk management practices, which include addressing the issues of water shortages, water pollution, and flooding.
Resource Circulation, and the Circular Economy
The Company is dedicated to achieving a sustainable society through its environmental policy, which includes a comprehensive approach to resource circularity, encompassing production, use, and recycling, as well as waste reduction at every stage.
Our goal is to raise the environmental awareness of our employees and promote resource circularity, with the aim of contributing to the creation of a sustainable society.
And, in 2025, we established Circular Economy Guidelines. We are promoting our initiatives in line with the guidelines.
Pollution Prevention and Chemical Substance Management
The Company is committed to conducting a thorough examination of the environmental impact and safety of chemicals throughout every stage of their introduction, use, and disposal. Our goal is to reduce the use of chemicals and replace them with safer alternatives. Additionally, we strive to promote energy savings and resource conservation at the entire supply chain. We also prioritize the prevention of pollution caused by chemicals and waste, and take measures to minimize its impact on the environment.

Biodiversity is an important foundation for a sustainable society. At NEC, our environmental policies stipulate that individual employees should increase their environmental awareness and contribute to preserving biodiversity. We strive to minimize the impact of business activities and employees' lives on living organisms, and to actively encourage employees' activities that contribute to biodiversity and the provision of ICT solutions.
